The Cool Kids have just dropped their latest mixtape, 'That's Stupid', right on the heels of the American release of their EP the Bake Sale - expect it to be coming out locally soon.
The mixtape follows the classic Cool Kids formula of golden-age hip-hop with a contemporary twist, and features some new cuts. Get on it below.

Favela Rock on Saturday night was the biggest one in a looooooooong time. The lovely Hayley Mei gave us these photos which is grand cos we sorta, kinda forgot to take some...

New show on BBC3 starting July 3rd. Starring some of the gang from Adulthood/ West 10 LDN.
Looks hilarious.
BBC Press Release:
A multi-platform sitcom about hip hop and urban poetry. Trexx and Flipside are wannabe hip-hop stars but their music label – Wu Hah Records - is run by Mr Brilliance who is more in tune with crooning than rap. Fortunately, his so-called assistant, Ollie, knows what she is doing and loves the boys' work. But even she worries that their enthusiasm is doing more harm than good – when they crashed the British Rap Awards (Bras) in a borrowed strip limo shared with a hen party, for instance. And, when it comes to using a little muscle, the hip-hop world is inhabited by the uninhibited, and gangsta rapper B-Ice has sworn to keep the boys exactly where he put them – in the gutter. Pitted against their rap rivals and backed by a no-hoper of a manager, will Trexx and Flipside ever make it?
Coming soon to BBC3

I was thinking how this show would go the distance seeing how he only has a handful of hits, but talk about proving me wrong. He went the whole 1hr + and the crowd went nuts everytime you heard the beat of the track. Obviously "Hustlin" had a huge reaction, but then so did his lastest single "Trilla" which was played twice!

Was Genius having "I'm So Hood" as the first track, but the only song I felt that was missed out was "Hundred Million Dollars". Ricky's verse kills that.
But all in all a great night, finished off with a dose of YO-YO for good measure.

Mark Ronson hosted last nights "The Sunday Night Project", the house band for the night was N*E*R*D and Pharrell participated in one of the nights game shows.

I've been meaning to post about Sweden's Lykke Li for a while and seeing as this week is Midsommar it seems like the perfect time.
Lykke Li is 22 and quite cute in a Nordic sort of a way. Her album Youth Novels recently got a fairly wide release (aka outside of Sweden). and was produced by Björn Yttling of Peter Bjorn and John. She's mates with dudes like Kleerup (who also recently dropped an album) and Robyn (who guests on her album).
She makes sweet, down-tempo, electro-infused pop and has this smoky and almost childish voice which I can understand that people might not click with immediately - but give it time, it'll grow on you.
The song Little Bit appears on the album but was also on her first EP of the same name from 2007. I've been feeling the album for sure - it makes a nice change to what I usually bump on the way to work. Perfect for the day after a vodka-soaked Midsommar party should you be lucky enough to be invited to one.
What would you say, if I said, David Byrne and Dizzee Rascal were on a track together? Well it has taken BPA to make this dream come true, plus a whole lot of naked people with some creatively censored bits.

Not really sure what to make of this. I thought he was going away for a loooong time.
There's a pretty good wrap up here.
By all accounts it seems Kells is a very, very lucky man.

NERD have followed up their heralded performance at SXSW at The Fader stage with their new album 'Seeing Sounds'. The album flirts with rock, psych, hip-hop, funk Bmore Club and everything else in between. The result is a very mixed album where each track seems to reference something quite different from the previous. Tracks range from the Beatles flavoured 'Sooner or Later' to the Bmore Club meets DnB meets ska 'Everybody Nose' - probably one of the strongest tracks on the album. There is a generous amount of cheese mixed into the release and at times the ideas get a little to big, and the result is a confusing mix of styles. But there are still moments when creativity wins, and they pull it off.
